Find the Best From Local Sources at Pete’s Meats

In 1998 Pete Larsen said goodbye to his hometown of Niagara on the Lake (in Ontario) and came to live out West. Arriving in Vancouver, Pete got his start as an apprentice with Windsor Meats. With a burgeoning new foodie scene opening up new opportunities in Vancouver, Pete decided it was time to start his own butcher shop. So in 2011, Pete’s Meat, Butcher Shop & Deli opened at 12th and Arbutus in the Kitsilano neighbourhood on the west side of ... [more]

How much of MORE is enough?

How much of MORE is enough?

Is less really more? Who says? I'm pretty sure that more really is more ... in most cases! Ok, we don't need any more war, violence or poverty. Got enough pestilence and disease. Doing fine with massive stores of loneliness and heart break. Stocked up on all our financial losses we can afford at this time, just recently in fact. All the religious and terrorist action is pretty much maxed out right now for us and we are currently so overloaded, we won't be asking for any more. Thanks ... [more]

Big Brand Fails: Trying to be local?

Big Brand Fails: Trying to be local?

Big brand fails: "Say it with Pepsi?" What anyone would be saying with Pepsi is confusing to me. It is rare I let a beverage do my talking or be important to how I might want to represent myself (with or without clothing) by the brand of my beverage. That clothing is optional at wreak beach? Great, ... [more]

Getting to the top of the rock, you realize your thirsty journey to beer heaven is getting closer. And the FREE parking is good! (Really, this is one of the last places) You'll discover their source of heavenly nectar in plain view, from a 'viewing lounge' with full bar service! It won't be easy counting the splendors of Big Rock Urban (BRU) and all things beer and beyond! Ok, so now we will 'Suck it Up' in an attempt to 'Stay Calm & Carry On' in trying to tabulate some of ... [more]

A tomato ketchup war is on in Canada!

A tomato ketchup war is on in Canada!

It's Heinz versus the new guys: French's Ketchup. This is no friendly battle for market. You may remember that Heinz was THE ketchup unless someone switched you out. French's was the mustard — the best buddy along with Heinz Ketchup on your hotdog or burger. Well, they are friends no more! We've all seen TV commercials where the two old friends find it strange and are now awkward and uncomfortable with each other. Next we see the retaliation from French's by declaring that all of their ...
