Are you the centre of the universe? Well, Duh… Yes!
What other perspective should you have, (unless you have kids) we are most always thinking about #1 first.
Are you most definitely the number 1 and just possibly the most important person in your life? Do you live only for you, yourself and I, or can you make room for others?
Everybody knows: it’s easier to be selfish than it is to share.
Even though we might be in the ‘sharing economy,’ everyone is still looking out for #1. It is sometimes so easy to make one’s self happy and satisfied that it can become boring and uncomfortable.
Sometimes it’s hard for us to replicate our ‘happy-satisfied’ thing with others even though we have the best intentions.
Check out this video which support evidence that kind of nails the dilemma we face in trying to ‘help others’ feel good too.
Fact is, though it’s hard, making others happy is what creates the 1+1 = 3 magic happiness factors. This higher level happiness is just not possible in a “one universe only” concept. We have to risk opening up ourselves and others to the discovery of the joy unknown.
This living in the moment is magic that creates spontaneity and open new feelings and actions not totally scripted and planned. It is at these moments we make choices about other people and ourselves. Is this person safe or a risk to us? Are we comfortable with this?
Think about the issue of the refugees fleeing from Syria into Europe for their safety and to start a new life in a new home country.
We are talking about millions of people on the move. This is not only historic (and sad) but super scary for everyone, regardless of which side of the border you are on. People are crossing oceans and dangerous borders to find safety, and freedom in foreign lands.
It’s hard to believe that some people in some countries may want to shut out these refugees and refuse them safety and freedom!
Is this being selfish and feeling threatened so your reaction is to protect your country and culture from perceived future threats?
Yes, to both!
This is typical, but it is also how we must overcome our own fears and inferiority to grow bigger hearts and be brave as knowing we are, and always be one human race on one planet in one world we all share together.
Let’s just say this Syrian crises (and ISAL) is a world tragedy that is teaching us all lessons through a horrific case of bad leadership.
It would be unconscionable for us to slam the gates shut forcing many out into the cold, no food, no shelter, no sympathy… Hungary?
The good work is in helping each other in hard times, not putting each other down, shutting others out or pointing fingers of blame.
When you think about it, how a country or a nation feels about people (others) is the heart they wear on their sleeve, as well as it defines the culture and becomes the heart of the people and their future direction in the world. (Think about North & South Korea?)
We applaud Germany, Sweden and the other leading nations and their courage. They are both open to encouraging more talk about it and provide immediate solutions hopefully good for both the refugees and Europe. Totally beats putting your head in the sand.
This is it. Many people and countries understand, but many still do not comprehend.
Its’ all about others!
This is the positive change, it’s happening now and really making things better (through much suffering) than before. Would there ever be future hope? With the Leadership of Syria and Russia playing terrorist world games, the people were pawns and trapped in another oil-based economy in the desert going down the tubes. What other industry had they encouraged. Think about it Alberta?
I was once told, at the turn of the 20th century, the telegraph was the world communications tool with reach to most every nation. The Salvation Army was given an opportunity to communicate the importance of their service cause to the world in this message.
At that time the world was also on the roller coaster of history and the ride was rough. They were facing much mayhem and the tumultuous tragedy of war reeking havoc with heart break and loss of lives happening everywhere. It was a big mess, just like today!
The only catch to the ‘Sally Anne’ Commissioners was they could only choose one word to communicate their message to the world. Their one word choice? -> Others
Think about it! Be social, be happy, be one with the world and share it with Others!
Remember, when you laugh, or cry – the ‘Island of One’ can be very lonely and not much fun without a few good friends 🙂
Life should be a Beach. Stay open and share more fun and joy with others in this world.
