Did June 30th seem like an extra long day?

Jul 2, 2015 by Mike Olson Leave a Comment

Danger the quick sand is too slow.

Did last Tuesday seem just a little bit longer to you?

It was… by one (leap) second!

The atomic clock people (scientists) needed to catch up with the rest of world time so they decided to add one second to our collection of world time to date.

This may sound crazy since time works on a continuum, so we have and always will have enough time – until it’s over!

Some say this leap second had to do with catching up on timing deficiencies caused by the the Y2K computer scare.

Others say otherwise, read the CBC news story here

All our time measurement is relative in this continuum due to how the measurement was agreed. The AD > After the death of Jesus Christ is a date relative to recording and bookkeeping at that time and over the time of our history.

The BC > before Christ and AD thinking is mainly a Roman / Christian historical term with very little date-stamped evidence to prove any of it.

Nonetheless, time is a very interesting and commodity or unit measure which is more priceless in our lives than any material things on this earth.

My Mom was always good to remind me of the following; the past is history, the future is a mystery – Everyday is a Gift, that’s why they call it the Present!

Enjoy your extra time this year and next… 2016 has a February 29 so next year you’ll get 86,400 extra seconds.

More time is good – and it’s only getting better, so don’t lose any time >  Enjoy it today!
