Yes Billy, There Will be a Christmas This Year…

Today Starts the Official Countdown to Christmas 2013! I know some people would say that it starts the day after Halloween in the Stores… But isn’t it just right that we respect the veterans on Remembrance Day and then get back to that time of the year when we all like to give and get stuff. With that being said we don’t want to overlook how lucky we are that most of us still have homes and can probably afford a turkey (or a turkey pizza) to put on the table this year. Times are still tough but I think we are all adjusting to the new reality of leaner lifestyles as the new future. I’m starting to think that things are just starting to in a better direction for us all (Once our politicians decide to go back to work next year?).

Last year I remember walking down the street and seeing a somewhat gloomy sign in front of a retail store announcing that Christmas was in 8 days but the end of the world was in five days. Can you imagine for kids who have waited all year (being good, as much as possible) only to find out that Christmas was not going to happen? Based on the Mayan Calendar our earth would stop rotating and there would be no reason for Santa to fly the friendly skies on Christmas eve to presents to all the good little boys and girls in the world? How strange that we all believe and disbelieve about the wonders about these ancient things even though we know it’s (probably) misinformation.

As it turns out, any worries about the end of the calendar = end of the world scenario, we did it to ourselves! It was a ‘made you look’ trick by american based media… the Mayans already had other calendars and didn’t have any worries about the end of anything other than the parties they had to end one calendar and start another new one. Meanwhile in America some people who bravely faced the end by spending more money to relieve the pressure… increased the debt they had already accumulated on their credit cards just on the chance they wouldn’t have to pay their bulging balances off if there was no credit collection after the end of the world. Nice try, hope you get to pay off all your credit debts now so you can start fresh for this year’s spending!

OK, so here’s the next big shopping events that will help you stock up for Christmas and/or score some great prices as the Christmas Shopping kick’s into high gear starting this weekend!
